Care and Repair, the St Helens home improvement agency for older, disabled and vulnerable home owners, has now transferred from Arena Options into the Council.

Its contact number will be 01744 456237 and it will be based in Wesley House, Corporation Street, St Helens WA10 1HE.

Care and Repair provides a range of services. These include identifying what is wrong in the home and advising how best to put it right, providing advice and technical assistance, obtaining no obligation quotations for work from reputable building contractors and assisting filling out applications for grants and other funding.

Householders will only be required to pay for the work completed once they are satisfied. If work is done via Care and Repair a small fee is payable.

It also runs handyperson schemes to carry out minor adaptations and small household repairs, for the cost of the materials only.

There is no labour cost, although donations would be accepted. To register call 01744 671679.
